5. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- harass, threaten, or abuse other users;
- post illegal, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or violent content;
- attempt to compromise the security of the platform (unauthorized access, scraping, brute force, denial of service, exploiting vulnerabilities);
- use automated tools, bots or scrapers to access the service, except the official RSI Sync browser extension;
- impersonate another person or organisation, including CIG/RSI staff;
- resell, sublicense or commercialize the service or its content;
- use the service to distribute malware or phishing content.
We reserve the right to remove content, suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. User Content
You retain all rights to the content you publish (reports, posts, messages).
By publishing content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and transmit that content solely to operate the service.
This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with other users (which will be replaced with a placeholder) and for backups (deleted within 30 days).
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to publish the content you submit.
7. Intellectual Property
The Outreach Syndicate brand, logo, interface and source code belong to their respective authors (Jerome Welty and David Desplanque).
Star Citizen, Squadron 42, Roberts Space Industries, Cloud Imperium Games and related marks and assets belong to Cloud Imperium Games and are used here under the RSI Fan Content Policy.
Game data (ships, locations, items) comes from public sources and belongs to its respective owners.
8. Third-Party Services
The service integrates with third-party providers (Google, Discord, Facebook for OAuth; Vercel; Supabase; Google Analytics if you opt in).
Use of these providers is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Links to our community Discord (discord.gg/aRUG36Hw6C) and to CIG's RSI website are provided for convenience; we have no control over the content of third-party sites.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided 'AS IS' and 'AS AVAILABLE', without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of game data.
We make no guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or up to date.
Trading and mining suggestions are informational only and reflect community data; you remain solely responsible for your in-game decisions.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of Outreach Syndicate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, loss of data, or loss of profits arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.
Because the service is free and non-commercial, our aggregate liability, where any exists, shall not exceed one Canadian dollar (CAD 1).
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, in particular gross negligence, wilful misconduct, statutory consumer rights (France: articles L.217-3 and following of the French Consumer Code; Quebec: Consumer Protection Act) or GDPR / Law 25 data protection rights.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from any claim or damages arising from: your violation of these Terms, content you publish, or your unlawful use of the service.
12. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for a material or repeated breach of these Terms or of applicable law, or if we decide to discontinue the service.
Upon termination, sections 6 (residual license for shared content), 7 (IP), 9 (disclaimers), 10 (liability), 11 (indemnification) and 15 (governing law) survive.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
We will display a banner on the site at least 30 days before material changes take effect.
Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree, you may delete your account.
14. Service Changes and Availability
The service is provided on a best-effort basis by two volunteers.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time and without prior notice.
We will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice for significant changes.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec (Canada), without regard to its conflict of law rules.
Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of the district of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Notwithstanding the above, French users may bring a claim before the competent French courts, and consumers residing in the EU benefit from the mandatory protective provisions of their country of residence (Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 and Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 'Rome I').
Nothing in this clause deprives any consumer of the protection afforded by mandatory consumer law in their country of residence.
